Emotion And Sweets? The Best Way To Satisfy Your Cravings

Emotion and sweets are like best friends!

When you are happy, you eat sweets! When you are sad, you eat sweets! When you celebrate, you share sweets!

Emotions and Sweets are deeply related.

Apple pie….Chocolate cake….Mango dessert….A simple sugar candy…..Who doesn’t like candy?

A study in 2012 revealed that people don’t eat sweets as their food. People eat sweets according to their emotions.

Emotion and sweets? When do you crave sweets?

According to psychology, people tend to crave more sweet food when they are angry, hurt, in tension, or in fear.

Many of you have noticed, one of your colleagues tends to drink non-stop sweet coffee when they are under pressure. And they never realize when it becomes a habit.

Sweets alter your mood. Temporary. So you feel better. Temporary!

When we crave the “feel good” feeling, we eat the same sweet food more and more. So our brain sends a good feeling to our entire body.

BUT….

Sweets have sugar, added sugar, high in cholesterol, saccharin.  All these are not natural sugar.  Anything that is not natural is problematic to the body.

This shows people try to cope with their emotional imbalance by eating sweets. Unconsciously! Negative emotions – anger, fear, tension, hurt, betrayal, and anxiety trigger the craving for sweets.

Your body does not need sweets every time. But when you cannot control your emotions, it leads you to sweets. Don’t make the same mistake everybody does. Never ban your sweets.

Realistic Ways To Cope With Candy Cravings:

  1. Add some whole fresh fruits, nuts, dried fruits, seeds. Then slowly switch on to them.
  2. Replace your dessert with your favorite fruit – Banana, orange, berries, apple, any fruit that you like.
  3. Always try to add whole fruit to your breakfast. It will slow down the craving for sweets for the whole day.
  4. Sweet craving is also a sign – your body is telling you – I need more “Energy Food.”
  5. See all cold drinks, chips, dessert, cake as – Fat Food….Fat Food….Fat Food….
  6. See honey, jaggery, and dates as – Slim Figure….Slim Figure….Slim Figure….
  7. Try to find natural food. Organic food. Fresh one.
  8. Next time you see a rich dessert, try to take a smaller portion. And even smaller next time. This will make you aware of what you are doing.
  9. Be conscious of your everyday emotions and moods.
  10. You can talk to your friend or colleague when you are feeling down.
  11. If you are single, like me, you can talk to your cactus plant.

Everybody is going through a problem – Different than you and me.

Psychology says people often mistake thirst for hunger. When you are thirsty, drink! Don’t eat. The same goes for your emotions.

We are humans. We have emotions and feelings. A personality that defines us.

Try to find a way out of it. How do others deal with the same situation? How do they overcome it?

Find something or someone that makes you feel better. What is the bitterness in your life? Why do you need to deal it with sweet, candy?

You can enjoy sweets. Not out of anxiety, frustration, or anger. Let the reason be a good one!

Simple practice. Practical practice.

To your next piece of cake,

Cheers!
